Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness." -Peter A. Levine
I am here to be that empathetic witness for you. Because I believe it takes a lot of bravery to share your story with me, and you have the best insight into your own experiences, I let you determine the pace and what becomes the focus of our time together. I have been told I present with a genuine warmth that helps people feel safe, and I hope that means the hard work of healing will feel more like a comforting conversation with an old friend than a stale therapy session. I would be honored to partner with you to leverage the strengths you already have to empower you to live the life that you want.
I am currently wrapping up my master's degree in social work from Michigan State University with a focus on evidence-based trauma treatment including training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I completed my bachelor's degree in social work at Spring Arbor University. I have over 12 years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, and have a strong interest in women's issues, but am passionate about helping individuals of all ages and gender identities work through trauma of any kind. I also have specialized training working with multilingual families, including refugees, and a natural knack for connecting with kids.
Outside of work you can find me belly-laughing with my family while playing Jackbox, relaxing while binge watching Gilmore Girls with my teens, and getting an endorphin flood from snuggling my fur babies.
